Free live music is the best kind.

This open mic thing just started in Bath on Friday, I wasn’t going to bother going but the guy who organised it gave me a ticket anyway and I didn’t have anything better to do.

I’m sooo glad I did decide to go.

The night started off with a bit of comedy from James & Matt’s Fantabulous Band, this was a good way to set the tone for the evening.

Marstin & the Revelators were also pretty cool. They won Moles’ Student Battle of the Bands.

James M was brilliant, his solo acoustic performance of Radiohead’s Black Star has been stuck in my head ever since. His duet with Sarah K playing Cello and singing Damien Rice’s Volcano was also amazing, I didn’t know the song before, but I’m not gonna forget it in a hurry.

Oh yeah, all the acts are Christians, either members of, or with links to Bath CU or Bath Spa CU.

Feeling Old

Despite the fact I still get mistaken for a fresher, I’m starting to feel like a bit of a uni veteran now.

I think you know you’re a grown up when one of your friends has an interview to become a teacher at your old school.

I’m gonna be 22 in 8 weeks, now 21 was bad enough, but at least then it was just the start of being grown up. Now I’m supposed to have got used to being an adult.

Next year I think I’m gonna be the only member of the CU who’s been around for 5 years. I’ll have to take comfort in the fact that I won’t be the oldest (thanks to Mr. Double Gap Year), and a couple of others will still be around that started at the same time as me, but they have been or are currently away on placement (my placement was local so I remained part of the CU).

Occasionally frustrating, but generally I love it. Like Aaron Pierce from 24, I’ve now been around for 5 administrations.
